Inspirational Thought: Don’t Let Fear Win by Bette Ford

1John 3:6

After listening to the latest news broadcast, are you nearly paralyzed with fear?  You may be wondering how best to protect yourself, your family? Who can you trust?

Or perhaps you’re unable to move forward with a project or dream because the fear of failure has become overwhelming? The need and desire to achieve are still there, yet despite your best efforts nothing seems to be getting done.

In both cases, you feel as if you’re left floundering, struggling with anxiety, terrified of doing the wrong thing. Or you could even be angry with God for allowing this to happen. Rather than reacting, take a step back and think.

The evil one can be quietly at work in your life, anxiety and fear are his weapons. He often uses them during troubling circumstances to distract or isolate us from God. Satan slithers around in our world creeping inside our lives when we are busy, hurt, upset or worried. A deep sense of hopelessness and helplessness are the evil one’s goals for you. Are you there yet? Be careful that you don’t welcome him inside as if he’s an invited guest (1Peter 5:8-9). Remember, God has promised never to leave us alone.

You do not have to let the fear of the unknown cloud your thoughts, damage your judgement or cripple you, thus keeping you from moving forward (1 John 3:8). Remember, your hope comes from above.

As Believers and readers of the Bible we know that God, the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit are One. We always have back up! The Holy Spirit, of the living God dwells inside of you.  With God on your side you have everything you need to be an over-comer (Isaiah 41:10). Fear, anxiety, and uncertainty are the enemy’s favorite tools. He uses them like a weapon to keep us away from our hope: our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.

The next time fear rears its ugly head, do not hesitate to do what Jesus did while in the wilderness (Luke 4:8), use God’s Words as your weapon against evil. Remember to trust in the LORD. There is never a time when you cannot ask for Jesus’ help. The Savior can see what we cannot see. He recognizes the obstacles ahead and makes the path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). Don’t ever let fear win!

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV) “Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand..”

1 John 3:8 (NIV) “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV) “Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that the same suffering are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
