Inspirational Thought: Lessons To Learn by Bette Ford

Proverbs 19:21

The Bible assures us that our Lord, God Almighty is a God of love, yet He uses “all things” even the devil’s handy-work (disease, sickness, pain, suffering, hurt etc) “to works for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). The Coronavirus is not new but are a group of related RNA viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds.

Believers understand that while God is not responsible for any disease, (2 Corinthians 4:4), there is a reason why God has allowed COVID-19 to take hold the way it has. Perhaps there is an important lesson we all need to learn from the pandemic.

There is no doubt that the 2020 COVID-19 has gained the attention of the entire world. Over the years, many have tried to ignore God and His commandments. Many are too busy living their lives to take time needed to read God’s word. Some are unclear if they want a relationship with God, especially if it means change. If there is a lesson to learn from the pandemic, that lesson may not be the same for everyone. The Bible tells us about  “true knowledge and wisdom,” and it warns us against the sin of power and corruption (Proverbs 1:7, Proverbs 37, Ecclesiastes 2:26).

The most powerful leaders around the world are no more exempt from getting COVID-19 than the homeless population sleeping in cars, shelters or under bridges. Our hedge of protection comes from God not man (Isaiah 55:11, Proverbs 3:5-6).

Self-quarantine if used wisely can give us time to rethink how we live our lives. Away from the hustle and bustle of the 9 am to 5 pm jobs, we can weigh and measure how close or far we are from our Lord and Savior. With time on our hands, we can read and study the Bible (Word of God). This precious book has been handed down from generation to generation and is filled with life lessons that come directly from our Father in heaven. There is no better time to stop procrastinating, and start to evaluate our circumstances and to examine our hearts as we spent quality time with the Creator.

Wisdom comes from the LORD (Proverbs 2: 6-8), not the White House or Capitol Hill, from CNN, MSNBC, CBS or Fox News. God is our Source and our Truth, for God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18). It is Almighty God who controls the heavens and the earth.  The heads the governments around the globe cannot save, heal or protect you. No matter what exit strategies mankind comes up with, God will ultimately decide when the pandemic will end. And some day each of us will bow before the King of kings and Lord of lords

If you are still uncertain of what you should learn from this experience, then go humbly to the Source of all goodness, mercy and grace. Ask the Savior, Jesus, the Christ to help you, to teach you His wisdom and truth. God is not a mystery but an open book (The Bible).
